## How to send bitcoin on-chain or over Lightning

After clicking <ArrowUpIcon /> “Send”, choose <ScanQRCodeIcon /> “Bitcoin” wallet, then scan or paste the recipient’s Bitcoin address, LNURL, Lightning address, BOLT11 invoice, or BOLT12 offer. You can also open the QR scanner from the top left of the mobile app screen.

You can view amounts as bitcoin (₿1) or sats (100,000,000 sats) by changing the unit under <UserIcon /> “Account”, then <BitcoinSignIcon /> “Bitcoin”.

If you send bitcoin from your cash balance, **Strike applies a 1% spread** to the conversion. If you send from your bitcoin balance, only network fees apply. A Lightning payment settles in seconds for a small network fee that Strike passes through with no extra charges. An on-chain payment lets you trade cost for speed by picking a delivery time before you confirm:

| Delivery time | Estimated arrival | On-chain fee |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Priority | ~10 minutes | Higher |
| Standard | ~1 hour | Lower |
| Flexible | ~24 hours | Zero |

### Identifying the receiver

When you enter or scan a destination address you haven’t sent to before, Strike asks for details about the recipient. This is required by Travel Rule regulations, and your bitcoin can’t leave Strike until you provide them. If you’re sending on-chain and you chose a paid delivery speed such as “Priority” or “Standard,” its estimated delivery time starts after verification is complete, not from the moment you confirmed the send.

#### Sending to your own wallet

For on-chain sends equivalent to £1,000 or more to a self-custody wallet, Strike may need to verify your ownership of that address. You’ll be asked for a selfie and a photo or screenshot of the device that holds the address. If you leave before completing verification, you can resume from the transaction in your activity list. If you abandon it, Strike cancels the send and returns the bitcoin to your balance.

#### Sending to someone else’s wallet

For a person, enter their first and last name, then select a wallet type. For a business, enter the business name and, optionally, its Legal Entity Identifier, then select a wallet type.

In some cases, Strike’s compliance team needs to review the recipient before the send can proceed, which can take up to one business day. For a Lightning send, the invoice may expire before the review finishes, and Strike notifies you so you can retry.

## How to send money to another Strike user

Choose <AtIcon /> “Username”, then type your recipient’s username or pick them from your contacts. Strike saves anyone you’ve paid before, so you don’t re-enter their details. To remove a contact, go to <UserIcon /> “Account” and <UserIcon /> “Contacts” and swipe left on the contact’s name.

Any payment request you receive will appear on the respective balance tab in the mobile app. To stop receiving unwanted requests, open it, tap <CircleUserBlockedIcon /> “Block” in the top right, and confirm. To unblock someone later, open <UserIcon /> “Account”, select “Profile”, then <CircleUserBlockedIcon /> “Blocked users”. Swipe left on the username, tap the red <TrashIcon /> “Delete” button, and confirm.
