# How do I set target orders?

A target order lets you automatically buy or sell bitcoin when it hits a specific price you have set. On the [web](https://dashboard.strike.me/) or [mobile app](https://links.strike.me/live-app):

1. Tap “Buy” or “Sell”
2. Tap “Buy” and change the order type from <PlusIcon /> “One-time purchase” to <FramedCircleIcon /> “Target order”.
3. Enter your “Target bitcoin price”, above or below the current price
4. Choose an expiration date, or keep “Open until canceled”
5. Enter the amount in cash, or switch the amount to bitcoin
6. Review and confirm the order details and fees

The required bitcoin or cash will then leave your balance or be deposited from [your linked payment method](/support/how-do-i-deposit-cash) and **remain in reserve until the order executes or expires**. To see [your reserved balance](/support/what-are-my-available-and-pending-balances) on the mobile app, tap the <ChevronDownIcon /> button below either balance.

If bitcoin reaches the target price and the order executes, **the full amount is purchased or sold, never a partial amount**. However, a target order may not have enough time to execute if bitcoin reaches your target for only a moment before bouncing back.

To reduce the risk that your target order will not execute on time, **we recommend opening several smaller orders** rather than a single large one, each adding up to the full amount you intend to buy or sell. Set each small order at different prices, slightly above or below your intended target, rather than targeting a single round number.

The “bitcoin” tab will list your open orders, if any. To **cancel** one, select it, then tap “Remove target order”, and the reserved funds will return to your balance. If you fund an order with a pending bank deposit that fails or reverses, the order may be canceled early.
