How to receive from a bitcoin wallet

You can copy or share your Lightning address by tapping the icon in the upper-right corner of the mobile app. By tapping “Receive”, you can also get a Lightning invoice or a unique on-chain address. A new on-chain address is generated every time it’s used, but funds will be added to your balance even if you reuse it.

There are no fees to receive any amount kept as bitcoin. If you opt to convert the proceeds to cash upon arrival automatically, Strike applies a 1% spread to the conversion.

Identifying the sender

When bitcoin arrives and Strike doesn’t already have the required sender information, your funds are held until you provide it. This is required by Travel Rule regulations. What you need to provide depends on whether the bitcoin came from your own wallet or from someone else’s.

Strike notifies you that a deposit has arrived and that details are needed before it can be credited. As the response deadline approaches, Strike sends reminders with the exact date and time by which you need to respond. If you don’t respond before the deadline, Strike returns the funds to the sender.

In some cases, Strike’s compliance team reviews the transaction before crediting it. Reviews take up to one business day.

Receiving from your own wallet

For on-chain receives equivalent to £1,000 or more from a self-custody wallet, Strike may need to verify your ownership of that address. You’ll be asked for a selfie and a photo or screenshot of the device that holds the address. If you leave before completing verification, you can resume from the transaction in your activity list. If you abandon verification, Strike returns the funds to the sending address.

Receiving from someone else’s wallet

For a person, enter their first and last name, then select a wallet type. For a business, enter the business name and, optionally, its Legal Entity Identifier, then select a wallet type. For tips received over Lightning, choose “Online tips” and explain what the tip was for. If you don’t know who sent the transaction, choose “I’m not sure,” and after a confirmation step, Strike returns the funds to the sender.
