Just as you can add layers that secure your account, you can set rules for how money leaves your Strike balance under “Account”, then “Security”. Each rule is optional, and you can use them on their own or together.
How to protect sends and withdrawals with 2FA
Under “Protected actions”, in the 2FA section, choose “Sends & withdrawals” to require 2FA for every cash and bitcoin send and withdrawal. To require it only for larger amounts, choose “Sends & withdrawals threshold” and set an amount instead. 2FA then applies once your sends and withdrawals over a rolling 7 days pass that amount.
Adding “Sends & withdrawals” or lowering the threshold takes effect right away, but removing “Sends & withdrawals” or adding or raising the threshold takes 5 days. No one can shorten the wait, not even the Strike team. Until it ends, your current setting stays enforced, and you can cancel the change from the notifications you get or by turning the setting back on in the app.
How to set a custom send limit
A custom send limit is an optional cap, in euros, on how much bitcoin and cash you can send over any rolling 7 days. If someone else gets into your account, the most they can send is what’s left of your limit.
The limit covers every send to a bitcoin address, Lightning invoice, or Strike username. Cash withdrawals don’t count.
To set one, turn on your limit under “Custom send limit” and enter any amount as your “7-day limit”. A limit of zero locks down sends. Turning on your limit or lowering it takes effect right away, but raising it or turning it off takes 5 days, so someone else can’t lift it and move your money out quickly. Until then, your current limit stays enforced and you can cancel the change.
How to hide your balance
Shaking your phone or long-pressing your bitcoin or cash balance can help you avoid the risk of shoulder surfing when using the app in public. You can disable shake to hide at any time.
